Assistance League of the Triangle Scholarship for Graduating High School Seniors

This program focuses on providing scholarships, on a need basis, to deserving students throughout the Triangle area. Scholarships are awarded for work leading to a certificate program, associates degree, or an initial bachelors degree.

Aubrey Lee Brooks Scholarships

Established in 1955 by a Trust endowed by the late Aubrey Lee Brooks, these scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors from a 14-county area of North Carolina. The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority provides central administration for the Brooks Foundation.

Business and Professional Women (BPW/Triangle) scholarships

Business and Professional Women (BPW/Triangle) scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding undergraduate and graduate women students who are seeking to further their education, advance their careers, or re-enter the workforce. Scholarship awards in the amount of $1,500 (USD) may be used towards tuition and fees, or other defined school-related expenses. Scholarship awards will be paid directly to the school on behalf of the scholarship recipient. Scholarship awards are not paid directly to the recipient.

Carol Ann Beerstecher Nursing Scholarship

In 2008, the Carol Ann Beerstecher Nursing Scholarship Fund was created at Triangle Community Foundation as a tribute to Carol and to her dedication, passion, and commitment to nursing by the Beerstecher family. Triangle Community Foundation has partnered with the North Carolina Foundation for Nursing to house a scholarship program to support students who pursue pre-licensure nursing education and have resided in one of the following NC counties for at least one year prior to applying: Chatham, Durham, Orange, Wake, or Person.

Each Carol Ann Beerstecher Nursing Scholarship awards up to $5,000 per year for two years.

NC Safewater Endowment Fund

The NC Safewater Endowment Program plans to award a total of $19,000 is scholarships and grants in 2018.

Scholarships are available for community college and university students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as for educators at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

The One AWWA Operator Scholarship can be used by operations professionals for certification/licensure, two-year water related associate degree, technical school program, professional training program, books and manuals, and operator related conferences.

Retail Pays for College

The North Carolina Retail Merchants Association will award ten $2,500 scholarships to students who are North Carolina residents and are employed by or whose spouse or parent is employed by a non-grocer NCRMA member store. For NCRMA application information click here.

The Carolinas Food Industry Council will award 40 scholarships of $2,500 to students living in North or South Carolina who are employed by or whose spouse or parent is employed by a CFIC member grocer store. For CFIC application information click here.

 

The Cheatham-White Scholarship

The Cheatham-White Scholarship will be established for the Fall 2018 as a merit scholarship program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and North Carolina Central University to provide an outstanding educational experience for students who are exceptional scholars, versatile and well-rounded individuals. Cheatham-White Scholars will represent students with a broad range of interests, proficient in areas of both the arts and sciences, demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to service.

Crumley Roberts Founder’s Scholarship Program

For over 25 years, Crumley Roberts has believed that continued learning is the key to success. To bring this concept to life, we began the Crumley Roberts Scholarship Program, which to date has provided over $215,000 in scholarships and technology to help college-bound North Carolinians start on the road to success. We are proud to invest in students who demonstrate a commitment to learning and to their community, with our ultimate aim to provide the encouragement and support needed to help students achieve their dreams.

Crumley Roberts offers two types of scholarships for North Carolina students in 2017: the Founder’s Scholarship and the Next Step Scholarship. The Founder’s Scholarship of $2,500 is awarded to high school students who attended a North Carolina high school and who will attend an accredited four-year college or university in the coming fall.

The Dottie Martin Teachers Scholarship

The North Carolina Federation of Republican Women established the Dottie Martin Teachers Scholarship Fund in 1991 in honor of First Lady Dottie Martin’s work and dedication to the families and youth of North Carolina.

This annual scholarship of $500.00 is designed for a man or a woman presently enrolled and studying the field of education. Its purpose is to attract teachers who are motivated to cultivate in our young people a true love of learning. Our objective is to assist aspiring teachers who are particularly

interested in child guidance and counseling and who want to make a difference in the lives of North Carolina’s children. Those presently enrolled in education programs can be considered for the scholarship after approval of that program by the Board of Directors of The Dottie Martin Teachers

Scholarship Fund. Recent high school graduates are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. The applicant must be well-advanced in programs of Education with an established career plan for teaching.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Scholarship

The ESA Foundation awards numerous scholarships annually. You do not have to be an ESA member to apply for a scholarship, and our application process is 100% online.  The applications for 2019-20 academic year scholarships will open in Fall 2018. All students will be notified whether or not they received a scholarship for the 2018-19 academic year in May 2018.

Eunice M. Smith Scholarship

In 1995, the NC Foundation for Nursing, Inc. received a bequest from the estate of Kate Lerch in honor of her sister, Eunice M. Smith, to be used for scholarships and grants related to study in the field of nursing. The Foundation established a scholarship program to support registered nurses who pursue additional education on a part-time basis.

The EMS Scholarships are available to registered nurses by pursuing additional education at the baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral level on a part-time basis.

Each EMS Scholarship awards up to $1,000 per year for undergraduate students and up to $2,000 per year for graduate students.

Fallen Linemen Foundation

Since the inception of the Fallen Linemen Foundation, the primary goal of this organization has been to support the linemen, and their families, of our utility industry. The organization has engaged in fundraising efforts to enable the foundation to provide financial support to electric utility linemen injured while on the job and/or supporting organizations and institutions.

Through fundraising efforts, the Fallen Linemen Foundation has established a scholarship program for students entering into the Electrical Linemen Program and for children of linemen to reflect their belief in education and career development,  and be a giving member of the linemen fraternity. Scholarship funds will assist with tuition, fees, books and other related expenses.

Three $1000 scholarships will be offered to qualifying students to pursue their education in a secondary school, and two $1000 scholarships will be offered to qualifying students enrolled in an Electrical Linemen Program.

Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship

The Florence Kidder Memorial Scholarship (FKMS) honors the memory of the first president of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of North Carolina, Florence Hill Kidder. $3,000 is awarded annually to a high school senior who plans to attend a post- secondary institution in North Carolina. The runner-up receives $1,000. The scholarship is not renewable and is awarded every year to a different applicant.

Golden LEAF Scholarship Program

The Golden LEAF Scholarship Program is designed to assist current high school seniors and North Carolina community college transfer students. Recipients must be from certain rural counties, demonstrate both financial need and merit, and plan to attend participating North Carolina colleges and universities. The scholarship is funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation through a grant to the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority. The number of years of scholarship support depends on the degree sought and the number of credits transferred.

Golden LEAF Scholarship Programs

The Golden LEAF Scholars Program – Two-Year Colleges is funded through a grant from the Golden LEAF Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 1999 to help transform North Carolina’s economy. The scholars program provides funds up to $750 per semester for curriculum students and up to $250 for occupational education students. Participating colleges may vary; therefore, students are encouraged to check with the financial aid office at their college to see if the college is taking part in the program.

GSK Opportunity Scholarship

In 1988 GSK, headquartered in Research Triangle Park, made a significant gift to its home community by creating the GSK Opportunity Scholarship Fund. Administered by Triangle Community Foundation, this Fund offers residents of Durham, Orange, or Wake County, who have overcome significant adversity, the opportunity to pursue their dreams and improve their lives through education or training.

J. HOWARD COBLE SCHOLARSHIP

The J. Howard Coble Scholarship was established in 2016 by Congressman Coble’s nephew Dr. Ray Coble and his wife Chris Coble who created a fund at the High Point Community Foundation to honor Congressman J. Howard Coble.

The scholarship is intended to provide financial support for deserving students who demonstrate the ideals and leadership qualities of Congressman Coble.

Jagannathan Scholarships

Established by industrialist N.S. Jagannathan, the scholarships were first awarded for the 1996-97 academic year. The Jagannathan Scholarship program is administered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority.

Judy Knox Scholarship

In 2009, the North Carolina Foundation for Nursing received a request from the North Carolina Board of Nursing for a scholarship in the name of Judy Knox (deceased), a former member of the NCBON staff. This scholarship will be offered to graduates from diploma nursing programs that are pursuing additional education in nursing.

Each Judy Knox Scholarship awards up to $1,000 per year.

LGFCU Scholarship

Each year, we award 120 one-year scholarships to graduating high school students and students attending colleges, universities, graduate and trade schools. All scholarships are for $1,000, payable in one installment to the school, and may be applied to tuition, textbooks, computers or other fees.

Mary Lewis Wyche Fellowship

Mary Lewis Wyche was the founder of the North Carolina Nurses Association in 1902 and was the nurse who spearheaded the creation of the first nursing practice act in the country which was passed on March 3, 1903. In 2003, the North Carolina General Assembly passed legislation to create the ‘First in Nursing’ license plate. A portion of the fees paid to utilize the license plate fund the Mary Lewis Wyche Fellowships.

The Fellowships are awarded to registered nurses seeking their masters or doctorate in nursing practice or administration on a full-time basis.

Each MLW fellowship is funded for $5,000 for one year.

Michael A. DeMayo 2018 Scholarship Program

The annual Michael A. DeMayo Scholarship program is an exciting opportunity for local high school seniors to have a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship toward their college education.

The NCNA Southwest Regional Advisory Committee has partnered with the North Carolina Foundation for Nursing to establish a scholarship program to promote professional nursing practice by encouraging registered nurses to pursue additional education. Scholarships are available to NCNA members who live or work in the Southwest Region who have chosen to further their professional career by pursuing education at the baccalaureate or graduate level.
